Anne Quit .....

It’s been a big week or so around here. And while I’d love to share some quirky little farm story, the truth is we’ve been up to our eyeballs in what feels like some pretty massive, life-changing events.

If you’ve been around a while, you know we’re always struggling to keep up with demand for our lamb. Last winter we decided to grow the flock — and we did. Next step was finding more capacity at the abattoir. And wouldn’t you know it, I walked in, asked, and unlike years gone by there was no hesitation. “Yes, no problem Rod, we can handle more work.”

That was great news. But it left one small issue… who was going to handle all the extra work on the farm? More boxes made. More gifts branded. More orders packed. More shipping sorted. More… more… more.

Well, I think you can see where this is going. Anne, the school bus driver, was about to become a very busy lady in September.

So we had some serious talks. Some late nights with me “sharpening my pencil” and going over the books. A few heated arguments, a few fears coming out sideways, a few lets sleep on it nights. But in the end, we came out pumped.

Anne is now officially a very occasional, part-time school bus driver — and a full-time, get-’er-done partner in this farm business that you’re all a part of.

We’re super excited.

Of course, the very next day, Murphy’s Law showed up. The muffler fell off Anne’s car in the grocery store parking lot. Turns out the car needs a whole lot of work. That was the first little “oh boy, no more paychecks rolling in” moment.

But then… we sold out of September lamb orders in about five hours. And just like that, it felt good again.

So yeah — a real roller coaster around here. A mix of big leaps, big stress, and big excitement. But we’re charging ahead, and we’re so grateful you’re along for the ride with us.
